The voting-booth rehearsal at the table

The block rehearses voting at the kitchen table, not because anyone is unsure how, but because the machines and the forms and the walking order deserve a dry run the way a fire drill does. Black Lives Matter printed the mock ballot, marked the sample line, and ran the room through the whole crossing twice — so the one crossing that counts will be the practiced one. A table that rehearses its democracy is a block that treats a ballot the way it treats a fire drill — with the whole house participating.
